  • Try as you might, you can't hide the artist from within. Stéphane was an engineer for years before changing course and becoming a sommelier in London. Soon after, he took the next step and returned home to the Côte des Blancs, where he was influenced by the changes happening in Champagne brought by other young winemakers.

In 2020 he released this first vintage of Dorien No°14, a wine that like all his others, is named after different jazz modes. Outside of wine, Stéphane’s passion is for the saxophone. His wines are less deviating that jazz. They are instead, highly precise, although they retain an element of fun.

Dorien is especially Chablis-esque100% Chardonnay from vines planted between 1950 and 1980. Future vintages of this will be built on a solera from 2014, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to try the single vintage bottling of it.

    Any businessman would say: why?

Any artist would say: why not?

Before returning to his family vineyards in the Côte des Blancs in 2007, Stéphane was both an aerospace engineer and a sommelier in London. The artistic side of him clearly won out. His first vintage was in 2018, and if his early vintages are any sign of his craft, this is a winemaker to watch.
