Athletes du Vin - Touraine Chenin Blanc 2016
This product is currently sold out.
It's hardly a secret that we love Chenin. Out of all the importers in Hong Kong, we probably bring in the most of this relatively underappreciated grape. All across the Loire, Chenin manifests itself in so many different flavours, and we love all the versions of it that we bring in for different reasons.
Under the firm control of Gérard Vallée, the Touraine fruit that goes into this cuvée is fresh and accessible, with a clean fruity expression. There's no oak, just stainless steel with natural yeasts. The result is a medium-bodied white wine with a fine balance between the weight and the acidity. There's plenty of ripe apple aromas, pears, and a citrusy finish. It's fun and sunshine in a glass.

Les Athletes du Vin is a négociant project focused on producing great value typical wines from the Loire Valley. The idea was conceived by a group of French winemakers called Vini Be Good who work together to distribute their wines in France. The wines are vinified by various members of the Vini Be Good network using their own grapes or grapes purchased from friends and neighbors in the Loire.
Cork Culture works with Matthieu Vallée of Château Yvonne, and all three of the cuvées we source from Les Athletes du Vin are made by Matthieu’s brother Gérard Vallée of Domaine de la Cotelleraie in Bourgeuil.
The labels for Les Athletes du Vin are drawings by French artist, illustrator, and cartoonist Michel Tolmer who has been the unofficial lead artist of the French natural wine movement since the 1990s.
