From the vineyard of L'Echalier, where Nicolas and Genevieve live and make the majority of the wine from, comes the latest vintage of 'Pop Sec'.
It was a devastating vintage in which the winery lost the majority of their crop, and what remained the couple chose from aggressively to make just a minuscule amount of wine.
This is 100% Chenin Blanc with a minimum 1 year "sur latte". Pop Sec as always is a labour of love, a sparkling that comes from the heart of these two young growers. It has the beautiful, unique hint of Anjou pears that marks all of Bertin-Delatte's wines, but with bubbles. -

Nicolas and Genevieve have a 3-hectare organic domaine near Rablay-sur-Layon. If that town’s name rings a bell it’s because together with neighbors and similarly tiny domaines GarOvin and Vins Hodgson, this Angevin crew is making some of the Loire’s most exciting wines. You may know Bertin-Delatte’s still white, L’Echalier; they make natural wines that appeal to Somms in Michelin-starred restaurants as much as the local crunchy granola types who shop at the cooperative grocery in Rablay Sur Layon.
