Champagne Stéphane Regnault - Lydien No°29 NV
This product is currently sold out.
When Stéphane first returned to his family vineyards, the first thing he did was to change the viticulture. He removed all herbicides, and began converting all of his family's land to organic vineyards.
Stéphane runs a micro-estate in the Côte des Blancs, and has the envious luck of only having Grand Cru vineyards to work with. Overall, he makes around 10,000 bottles per year. Lydien No°29 is 100% Chardonnay from vines planted between 1950 and 1980 on chalky soil in Grand Cru Oger.
In his first release of this wine he made everything from the 2014 vintage, and all subsequent vintages are based on a solera from that harvest. This is mostly from the 2015, and the wine is singing. 1 gram of dosage, 3250 bottles. We brought in 36.

Any businessman would say: why?
Any artist would say: why not?
Before returning to his family vineyards in the Côte des Blancs in 2007, Stéphane was both an aerospace engineer and a sommelier in London. The artistic side of him clearly won out. His first vintage was in 2018, and if his early vintages are any sign of his craft, this is a winemaker to watch.
