  •  Along with 'Prologo', this was one of the most requested wines from De Fermo. So we brought it back once again—a Montepulciano that will have you wondering if you've ever really had Montepulciano before.

    For those that are confused, Montepulciano has a reputation of being heavily extracted, big, and alcoholic. While the grape does lend itself to being quite fruity, in Stefano's hands this shows insane freshness and drinkabillity. He ages it in large concrete tanks so that no oak ever touches this marvelous juice, and it's ready (with a bit of chill) for your next party.

  • The family farm is located in Loreto Aprutino (Abruzzo), halfway between the Adriatic sea (20km) and the southernmost European glacier (20km). In the vineyard, which covers 17 hectares at 270-320 meters of altitude, biodynamic principles are applied since 2009.

    The current generation, led by husband and wife team, Stefano Papetti and Nicoletta De Fermo returned to the family farm's vineyards and olive orchards after having successful law careers in Bologna. The winery had not been in use since the mid 1950s.

    Since resurrecting their family's cultural heritage in 2008 Stefano and Nicoletta have proven themselves to be stewards of their land and talented winemakers who understand that the best thing they can do is to intervene as little as possible in the cellar and let Loreto Aprutino do the talking.
