  • Bigger is better, especially in the form of one of our favourite Beaujolais producers. This is the magnum version of the lovely Morgon 2013 that we have available in 75cl and 300cl bottles. It's beautiful when chilled, so try serving it cold at your next party!

    Morgon is the most structured of all the Cru Beaujolais. It is 100% Gamay and fermented semi-carbonically, showing tart aromas of raspberry and minerals, showing incredible freshness. On the palate it is vibrant and concentrateda delicious, dreamlike Beaujolais.

    "Bright violet color. Intense, mineral-tinged red and dark berry aromas show excellent clarity and hints of licorice and potpourri. Juicy and expansive on the palate, offering vibrant black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn sweeter with air. Clean and minerally on the finish, which lingers with excellent tenacity and silky, slow-building tannins."

    "The 2013 Morgon is more reticent on the nose compared to the non-sulphite version, without the same detail. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, ripe tannins and pretty red cherry and candied orange peel note toward the finish."

  • In the 1970's four winemakers began a revolution against the industralization of wine. They were dubbed 'The Gang of Four' by their US importer Kermitt Lynch, and launched a whole movement around the world for chemical free viticulture. Marcel Lapierre was one of those winemakers, and though he has since passed away, his son has more than ably taken over the domaine.

    Since Lapierre, the region of Beaujolais has never been the same.
