Move Over Chablis, It's Time for Chitry
The whole world has their eyes on Burgundy, and everybody wants to drink from the hallowed hills of the Côte-d'Or. Prices as we all know have hence skyrocketed, but that doesn't mean there isn't value in Burgundy yet. At Cork Culture we love the underdogs and the under-represented regions. So we decided to look to the north of Burgundy, just south of Chablis, where we discovered the wines of Olivier Morin in Chitry.
You might have had Melon de Bourgogne from Muscadet before, but have you had it fermented in concrete eggs, or in Amphora? Jérôme Bretaudeau is a keen student and master at the same time, experimenting constantly and never settling for mediocrity. The results are extraordinarily precise and delicious - wines like few others in the region.
